Nigel Birrell

Nigel Birrell

Group CEO

Nigel has been the Lottoland Group CEO since 2014. Prior to his role at Lottoland Nigel was Group Director on the Executive Board at bwin.party digital entertainment plc (now Entain) the then world’s leading on-line gaming business, where he was responsible for all its mergers and acquisitions, business development and managing its investment portfolio. From 2005-2013 he led all its acquisitions, disposals and joint ventures around the world and was instrumental in devising, negotiating and transacting the £3bn plus merger between PartyGaming and Bwin, the then largest on-line gaming deal in history.

Prior to bwin.party, Nigel was a main board director of the FTSE 250 media group HIT Entertainment plc, leading its US$1.1bn disposal in 2005. At HIT, as well as M&A, where Nigel led the acquisition of such well-known children’s TV characters as Barney the Dinosaur, Thomas the Tank Engine, and Pingu, he was also responsible for investor relations, analyst and public relations and was the Board Director responsible for Guinness World Records and Fun Radio, of which he was also its first Chairman. He also served as CEO of Gullane plc during its integration with HIT. Prior to HIT, Nigel worked as an investment banker with both Dresdner Kleinwort Benson and later Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (now Credit Suisse). Nigel is also currently Non-Executive Chairman of Duke Royalty an AIM listed company, Chairman of AA Insurance Underwriting Company Limited, Chairman of GFSC regulated Southern Rock Insurance Company Limited, as well as Chairman of the GBGA (Gibraltar Bettting and Gaming Association Limited).

Nigel Birrell holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of London (Queen Mary College) and is a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales.

Bernard Njoku was appointed Group Chief Financial Officer of the Jackpot Group in 2025 and brings over three decades of senior financial and procurement leadership across the gaming and professional services sectors.

Since joining in 2023, Bernard has led initiatives to streamline global procurement, strengthen financial governance and enhance supplier performance, resulting in significant cost savings and improved operational agility across the Group.

Prior to Jackpot, Bernard has held senior roles at William Hill, Ladbrokes Coral, Gala Coral and BWIN, where he built and led high-performing teams across international markets.

A results-driven executive, Bernard is recognised for his expertise in finance management, governance and business transformation.

Matt Robinson

Matt Robinson has been Chief Operating Officer of the Group since August 2018. Prior to this Matt was the Chief Commercial Officer of the Group from January 2015 to July 2018. Matt has extensive experience in the online gaming industry having worked for Betfair as a Managing Director from August 2011 to January 2015, Bwin as a Marketing Director from May 2009 to July 2011 and Matt held several management roles at 888 Holdings from June 2003 to May 2009. Matt started his career working as Head of International Marketing at ellesse between 1996 and 2003 and as a marketing executive at Lacoste between 1993 and 1995.

Chief Strategy Officer

Elicia Bravo Garcia joined the Group as Chief Strategy Officer in July 2016. She is also a board member of Fortuna Insurance PCC Limited (since September 2018). Prior to joining the Group, Elicia worked as a Managing Associate at Linklaters, specialising in international finance transactions, from March 2008 to May 2015.

In July 2016 and immediately prior to joining the Group, Elicia completed an MBA at INSEAD. Elicia is dual qualified, having graduated with a Master of Arts in Jurisprudence from Oxford University in 2006 and having also successfully sat the New York Bar in 2008.

Leah Carnegie joined the Group in September 2015 as VP People and has been Chief People Officer since September 2019. Prior to joining the Group, Leah co-founded The HR Dept. in June 2013 where she currently serves as director and was Head of Human Resources at Credit Suisse in Gibraltar where she worked from March 2008 to September 2015.

Leah has a Diploma in Human Resource Management from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) which she obtained in 1999 and an Advanced Diploma in Human Resource Management in 2002. Leah also holds an Interpersonal Mediation Practitioner's Certificate (IMPC) which was awarded in 2015.

Group Chief Technology Officer

Paul has been Group Chief Technology Officer of Lottoland since April 2024, having joined the company in February 2023 as Director of Engineering.

Prior to Lottoland, Paul spent seven years in senior technology leadership roles at Flutter / Sky Betting and Gaming, steering the business through periods of hyper-growth and two major acquisitions. Rising to Director of Technology for Gaming, Paul led strategy across multiple brands at scale in one of the UK’s most respected digital technology hubs. Under his leadership, Sky Betting and Gaming delivered industry-leading platform availability, accelerated product delivery by 30%, executed a major cloud migration, and reduced supplier dependence to deliver substantial cost savings. He was instrumental in the launch of new brands and products, contributing to Sky Vegas achieving its position as the UK’s number one casino by volume.

Earlier in his career, Paul held senior technology roles at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, as well as international consultancies and e-commerce agencies across large-scale media, finance, and telecoms projects. He began his career in network engineering with Orange Telecommunications, where he completed an Advanced Modern Apprenticeship — an experience that shaped his enduring commitment to vocational pathways and the development of early careers talent.

Edward has been the Chief Governance Officer since July 2023, having joined the company a Head of Legal in August 2018. Prior to joining the Group, Edward worked at Addleshaw Goddard specialising in Corporate Law and held in-house legal positions at Vodafone Group Plc and Catapult Group International Limited (a public listed technology company in Australia). Edward is a qualified lawyer in England and Wales and holds an LLB from Lancaster ???
